Dan’s fitness career began in 1991
in the Sports Medicine Department at Hobart College where for four
years he served as an athletic trainer for the Football and Lacrosse
teams, helping athletes with injury prevention and rehabilitation.
Dan then moved on to become the Director of Corporate Wellness for
one of Northern New England’s premier health and fitness clubs,
designing healthy living programs for local corporations. Growing tired of the cold New England winters, Dan picked up and moved to sunny Tucson, AZ in 1999 to join the fitness staff of the World Famous Canyon Ranch Health Resort. At Canyon Ranch, Dan instructed a variety of group exercise techniques including aerobics, Yoga, kickboxing, cycling, aqua aerobics, and Chi Gong. In addition to group fitness instruction Dan also became Canyon Ranch’s most sought after personal trainer, and soon began flying weekly to Los Angeles to accommodate clients living there. In 2001, Dan started Inner Strength, LLC, a company devoted to using multi media to teach the important role of exercise in realizing optimum health. Whether it’s instructing at the Inner Strength studio, appearing regularly on the CBS Morning News in Tucson, writing for fitness and health publications, or presenting for such organizations as The American Heart Association, The American Cancer Society or The Arizona Dietetic Association, Dan relishes each and every opportunity to educate and hopefully empower others to lead healthier, more active lives. At the Inner Strength studio, Dan, along with his staff, work one-on-one teaching Dan’s “Long and Strongsm/™” technique. This truly unique form of conditioning combines the science of biomechanics and functional anatomy with the principles of Yoga, resistance training and Pilates, into one complete mind-body workout. Dan is currently working to produce both a book and a series of exercise videos on the Long and Strongsm/™ technique. |
